Retired Not Out, Paul Chappell's Journal

A Cold Dark Sunday in Liverpool

Three graces from the albert dock

The Liver building on a dark and gloomy day.

This Met Office said the weather this morning would be sunny, so, I decided to go down to the Albert Dock and the Pier Head to take some photos. Catching the bus to the Liverpool One bus station, just across the road from the Albert Dock. When I left mum, the sky was blue and the sun was shining. When I arrived at the Albert Dock it was dark and gloomy with no sun and intermittent rain! Wrong, Met Office.

The above photo gives a good idea of what it was like. Above the Albert Dock and the Pier Head, there were dark clouds. North of the Pier Head, the sky was blue.

I had a walk around the inside of the Albert Dock and took several photos; some are in my next post.

After that I decided to risk a walk over to the Pier Head, I just made it to cover before the next shower. My diary posts for the 9th and the 10th of April show two photos taken during this walk. Several of the photos looking out to the River Mersey are in this post.

After that I decided to go to the Lion Tavern for some refreshments and to try and get some photos of the inside. I managed to get a few, and I’ve added them to my post about the pub. On the way to the Lion, I passed the Confederate Embassy and managed to get a decent photo of it, see this post.

After that I went to the Vernon Arms where I met John for a number of pints. Once in the pub, the weather improved, the sun came out.

After that I caught the 7-bus back to mum for dinner and to watch the boring quizzes with mum.
