Returning to Marsden

Today my sister is back from her holiday, so I went back to Marsden.

The weather was sunny, so at least I didn’t get wet.

I caught the train from Alison’s local station, Broad Green, into town and then an express to Stalybridge, where I broke my journey for a few pints at the excellent Station Buffet Bar. I then caught the local to Marsden, terminating my journey before Huddersfield. I was lucky, I just made the bus across the valley saving me a long walk.

I caught a mid-morning train, to get back home before two. With a later arrival home, I could also stop my journey in Liverpool for a few bevvies at the Ship or the Vines. Something to consider.

Because of the weather I didn’t get to do as much photography as I hoped. Maybe on my next trip over here, July or August, the weather will be kinder to me. Hopefully I’ll be able to walk out to Hilbre Island.

The Grand National coupled and Liverpool playing at home was also a problem. It meant keeping away from town. I’ve been in Liverpool when Liverpool or Everton are playing at home, and it’s usually acceptable. The big problem was the grand national.
