Two Micropubs in Morecambe
11th October 2026

The Tide and Tap Micropub
The Tide and Tap micropub is on the seafront at Bare, on the outskirts of Morecambe. You can walk to the pub along the promenade and/or beach from the town centre. If that’s too far, you can catch a bus along the promenade; there’s a bus stop right outside.
This is a wonderful, airy micropub, thanks to the large windows on two sides. Some of them are stained glass. You can see Morcambe Bay through the front windows. There are lots of places to sit, including a large couch. There’s also an outdoor seating area at the front.
They open at noon every day, which is useful if you fancy an early pint. They close at 10 pm, except on Sundays when they close at 8 pm. We arrived around 3:30; the pub was busy with locals.
They were awarded the local Camera Branch’s ‘best newcomer pub’ award in 2026. I suspect they’ll win more Camra awards in the future.
They sell five real ales from hand pumps and ten cask-keg beers. On shelves behind the bar, there’s a large collection of whisky boxes. My pint cost me £4.30; as usual, I can’t remember its name, though it was good.
They sell Pieminster Pies and Pizzas. On certain days, usually early in the week, you can buy a pie meal or a pizza, and a pint for £15.00. They often have special meals. Their website has a menu. It’s a little bit inaccurate, so it may be best to phone them. At the back of the pub, there’s a large fridge full of ice cream.
On Sundays, there’s a free selection of cheeses and crackers. The cheese was excellent (not cheap), and disappeared very quickly.
Every other Sunday, they have live music; today’s was unfortunately cancelled.
The second-best pub of the trip.

The Little Bare Micropub
The Little Bare is a short walk from the Tide and Tap, on Bare Lane.
It opened in 2017 in a former off-licence. It’s a bit darker than the Tide and Tap, even though the original shop windows have been retained. The walls inside are grey; the floor is bare floorboards. At night it’s partly candlelit.
There’s a second room with more seating down a short corridor. At the back, there’s a small beer garden.
They don’t serve much food. Though, like the Tide and Tap, they have free cheese on a Sunday. They have soup on Tuesday and pizzas on Thursday.
The walls of the back room have paintings by local artists.
They have five handpumps selling a variety of beers.
It opens every day in the mid-afternoon; it closes around 9.
