Peel Street, Marsden is Closed
7th April 2026

Peel street Marsden is closed to traffic
Around three years ago, the roof of the Coop in Marsden was repaired, badly it seems. It needs to be done again. Ten days or so ago scaffolding went up around the building and a four-way set of traffic lights appeared. Until the other day you could drive along Peel Steet past the Riverhead Pub, subject to the temporary lights.
Over the weekend there was a problem with the water supply, which resulted in Peel Street being closed completely. As shown in the above photo. The four-way set of lights is now a three-way set of lights.
The repairs to the water supply should be completed in a day or so, at which time you will be able to drive up and down Peel Street again. But don’t hold your breath, the above photo was taken just before ten this morning, nobody was working on burst water main!
The work at the Coop is going to take six weeks. The scaffolding has been there for ten days or so, but it looks like they haven’t started the work yet. Who knows when it will be completed. Who knows when the four-way set of lights will be removed. Why have the traffic lights appeared well before the work starts?
