The Railway Inn, Greenfield

Train approaching Marsden station
My wife and I used to visit this pub occasionally, we both liked it. It’s nothing special; but the staff are friendly, it has lots of live music and decent background music. A good place to while away an hour or two.
We were there last week. I drank the Tiger Rut from the Millstone brewery, just up the road. It costs £3.80, a very good price. The other real ales they sell are well over four pound a pint. My wife likes a large glass of red wine. It had gone up from £8.50 to £9.90. Very, very expensive. She was not very happy.
A few days ago we were in the Sportsman pub in Huddersfield; a large glass of red wine is under £7.
Another pub we visit is the Travellers Rest, just outside Meltham; a large glass of red wine is under £7.
We won’t be going to the Railway anymore.
I’m well aware that costs and taxes for pubs are increasing (thank you Rachel Reeves) and that pubs are closing. But £9.90 for a large glass of wine is taking the piss.
