Tapps@Rhos, Rhos-On-Sea

The Front of the Micropub, with Me in the Window
I arrived at Tapps about fifteen minutes before it opened. The door was open, so I walked in, only to be chucked out, we’re not open until twelve. I sat on the bench and carried on reading my book. After five or so minutes the barman took pity on me and let me in.
I had a pint of what is fast becoming one of my favourite beers, certainly the beer of the trip, Welsh Pride from the Conwy Brewery. It cost me £4.60, a bit more than other places, but Rhos is a bit more upmarket. It was excellent, as you would expect for a Good Beer Guide pub.
It’s open plan with a number of large tables and a bar at the back. On the walls there are local photographs and paintings. There is a small backroom with a piano. As you can see from the photo above, there is some outside seating at the front.
They sell several real ales and ciders. For those who are interested they sell around six cask-keg beers. There was also a large fridge stocked up with canned beers.
The barman was very friendly and knowledgeable. He showed me an article in a local paper listing the best twenty or so pubs in Britain with a view of the Sea. Tapps was one of the pubs, but you can’t see the sea from it. I just sat there talking to the barman, reading my book, and watching the other customers.
I shall return.
