Retired Not Out, Paul Chappell's Journal

Blog Posts About the Sankey Canal at Penketh

Back in December my wife and I discovered the Ferry Tavern after a long, long drive from Scotland. I was in desperate need of a pint. The pub is on the banks of the River Mersey, which is still tidal at this point. Behind the pub is the Sankey Canal, where lots of boats are moored. Just up the river is the home of the Fiddlers Ferry sailing club. Right by the pub is a boat yard, repairing boats. It’s a lovely quiet peaceful area.
